The maths
A heat pump doesn't burn electricity to make heat — it moves heat from the outside air into your geyser. That single difference is why the running cost drops so sharply.

How we work
No guesswork, no surprises and no mess left behind. This is the same sequence on every job, whether it's one geyser or a block of flats.
01
Tell us about the home, your electricity bill and what isn't working. A short call is usually enough to point us in the right direction.
02
We check the geyser, roof or balcony space, power supply and placement, then send a clear, itemised quote with no obligation.
03
Most homes are done in a day. The unit is sited, pipework insulated, electrics connected and the old unit taken away.
04
We set the temperature with you, explain the controller, hand over the warranty and return if anything isn't right.
Workmanship guaranteed in writing on every installation.
The Cresta radius
Legacy Air works out of Cresta and covers the surrounding northern suburbs of Johannesburg. Short distances mean quicker site visits, faster callbacks and a team that knows the area's homes.
Slightly further out? We still travel for installations — give us a call and we'll confirm whether your area is covered.
Houses, townhouses and small commercial premises.
In the neighbourhood
A good installation is quiet and forgettable. These are the things people notice afterwards.
“Our geyser was the biggest line on the electricity bill. Legacy Air fitted a heat pump in a morning and the difference showed on the next invoice. Neat work, nothing left behind.”
“They quoted honestly, arrived when they said they would and explained every part of the install. The hot water has been perfect right through winter.”
“We use them for our guest house units. Servicing is reliable and breakdowns get handled quickly, which is exactly what we need.”
Questions
Still unsure about something? Call 064 008 0570 — no pressure, no sales script.
It depends on the tank size, the unit and how much pipework and electrical work your home needs. Every quote is measured on site and given to you in writing before any work starts, so the number you agree to is the number you pay. We're happy to talk through a rough range on the phone first.
Yes. Modern units are designed to extract heat from outside air well below freezing, and Cresta's winters are mild by comparison. Efficiency drops slightly in very cold weather, but the system still heats water for a fraction of what an element costs.
In most homes the old geyser cylinder is removed and replaced with a heat pump cylinder, or an existing cylinder is reused with a retrofit heat pump depending on its condition and the space available. We assess this during the site visit and recommend the option that makes the most sense.
A heat pump draws far less power than an electric element, so it recovers quickly and is easier to run from a small inverter or backup supply. A well-insulated cylinder keeps water hot for hours between heating cycles.
Most residential installations are completed in a single day. Complex retrofits, roof-mounted units or commercial systems can take longer, and we'll tell you upfront so you can plan around it.
Yes. We service and repair all major heat pump makes. An annual service keeps the unit efficient, catches small faults early and protects the warranty.
Every installation carries a written workmanship guarantee, separate from the manufacturer's warranty on the unit. If something isn't right, you call us and we come back.
